Lauren Gaspar, LCSW has treated victims of trauma and other life losses since 1999. She holds a Masters degree in Social Work from Boston university and is recognized by the State of Texas as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Lauren has counseled and consulted at the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the Suffolk County Children's Advocacy Center in Boston, the Good Grief Program of Boston, and Batshaw Youth and Family Centers in Montreal, Canada. Most recently Lauren served as the Director of Sexual Assault Services at Hope Alliance in Round Rock, TX.
Lauren's experience has provided her with many opportunities to create healing for victims of severe trauma and loss. In December 2001 she was was selected by the renowned Good Grief Program of Boston to begin child group therapy for children whose parents had died during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. From there she was hired full time as their 9/11 clinician, providing individual and group therapy for family members of victims. She co-facilitated groups for parent, spouses, siblings, and children of victims.
Lauren has also been an adjunct professor for the University of Texas in Austin Graduate School of Social Work since 2006. She continues to teach Methods of Play Intervention, and has also taught Grief Counseling and Social Work Practice with Abused and Neglected Children and Families . Lauren has provided workshops on self-care, vicarious traumatization, helping children through grief and loss, play therapy techniques, and sand tray therapy for various agencies and the UT School of Social Work continuing education program.
